What we did

This show home in Grimbergen had to prove what a complete Marcotte Style interior looks like, so it was executed exactly that way: building works, panelled joinery, bespoke cabinetry, furniture, lighting, curtains, rugs and every last handle and switch plate from one hand.

Hall

The entrance was drawn up in advance and rendered in photorealistic 3D before a single panel was cut. Marcotte Style set painted beaded wainscoting against the natural stone floor and clad the staircase in the same white joinery, then added a buttoned velvet bench so the hall has somewhere to sit. The steel framed glazed door and the faceted crystal lever handle were selected together with the panelling.

The oak volume and the steel framed door were fitted first, then the hall was finished.

The living room is organised around a panelled oak veneer wall with a linear glass fronted firebox set into it. A turquoise buttoned chesterfield faces two leather tub chairs piped in the same blue, all upholstered to measure in the Marcotte Style atelier along with the velvet cushions and the buttoned ottoman. Nailhead studs, painted wall panelling and floor length taupe curtains carry one palette through the whole space.

Dining room

The dining table sits in the same open volume as the seating area, under a black framed lantern. A long plank top on a heavy trestle base is paired with upholstered chairs whose leather backs are finished with rows of studs, and the whole set was delivered, installed and styled by the Marcotte Style team.

Kitchen

The kitchen runs along an oak veneer wall with a dark counter used as a bar. Tall upholstered stools with studded edges line up against it, and white wooden venetian blinds filter the light down the full length of the room. Joinery, seating and window treatments were designed in house by the interior architects so that they read as one piece.

Bedroom

The design bathroom holds an oval freestanding bath and sculpted basins against striped stone.

Every bedroom received its own bespoke headboard, upholstered and buttoned in the atelier: a wide red leather wing in one, a diamond buttoned navy leather panel in another, a white tufted panel in the master. Painted beaded wainscoting, fitted wardrobes with a built in desk and slatted radiator casings were drawn and made to measure per room, with striped curtains and bedspreads picked up from the leather. In the master the freestanding bath and its floor mounted mixer stand in the room itself, beside the bed.

Dressing room

The dressing is built around a lacquered island of drawers with a solid worktop, framed by full height wardrobes whose mirrored doors carry a painted cross motif. The fittings are square bronze knobs set with four crystal squares, chosen at drawing stage and fitted by the same team that installed the joinery. Striped taupe curtains on a ceiling track close the room off.

Bathroom

Each bathroom was given its own material. One is lined in striped grey tiling around an oval freestanding bath and a walk in shower, another is finished in plain grey with a wooden floor, and a third pairs sculpted countertop basins with a dark stone vanity top on a white lacquered unit. Painted wooden venetian blinds and beaded wainscoting tie them back to the rest of the house, with one point of contact from A to Z.

The whole house was drawn before anything was made. Plans first, then photorealistic 3D of the actual rooms, so the height of the wainscoting, the width of the dressing island and the tone of the curtains were settled before production. That discipline is what holds the house together. The painted panelling of the entrance hall continues as wainscoting into the master bedroom, the same soft taupe returns in the pinch pleated curtains and in the leather of the tub chairs in the salon, and the mirrored joinery with its cross motif is carried through to the matching switch plates beside it.

Every element was designed by the Marcotte Style interior architects, made to measure in the company's own atelier and installed and styled by the company's own team, so there was one point of contact from the first plan to the final styling.
