What we did

This house in Vrasene looks out over open fields, and the interior was built around that view.

Marcotte Style drew and delivered the dining room, the seating along the windows, the living room under the oak roof beams and the bar, together with the furniture, the lighting and the window dressing that hold them together.

Living room

In the living room the seating is modular and low, arranged around a single live edge slab on a deep pile rug so the floor stays open. The tall windows and the terrace door carry floor length curtains in a chevron patterned fabric, and the same fabric returns as a flat roman blind on the small window beside the armchair. Curtains and blinds were made to measure in our own atelier and hung by our own team.

It faces a long oak dining table surrounded by high backed linen chairs, so the two most used parts of the house sit in the same light.

The dining table is a long solid oak top on a dark base, protected by a clear glass plate, with a linear pendant hung centrally above its full length. Along the glazed wall a built in bench runs the length of the windows, interrupted by a low oak console with open shelves that carries a lamp and doubles as a side table. Both pieces were drawn up in advance and rendered in photorealistic 3D before production started.

Bar

The home bar is a curved counter in dark stained timber, open to the living space rather than closed off in a room of its own, and lit by three gold ringed pendants hung at different heights. The stools are buttoned across the seat, piped with a blue cord along the base and set on a black frame, upholstered by hand in our own atelier. The whole arrangement was designed in house by our own interior architects.

The utility room keeps the darker register of the bar, with a full height cupboard and low units under a dark stone worktop, an inset sink and a wall mounted tap. A cobble format stone floor runs through to the plank doors of the kitchen, and a framed mirror above the worktop keeps the narrow space light. Everything here was measured, made, delivered and installed by one team, with a single point of contact from A to Z.

Along the glazed wall a run of upholstered bench seating was made to measure, split by an oak console that carries a ceramic lamp. It faces a long oak dining table surrounded by high backed linen chairs, so the two most used parts of the house sit in the same light. In the living room the scale changes: exposed beams, a crystal chandelier and a deep sectional sofa around a live edge table.

The pieces agree with one another because they were designed together. Every room was set out in plans and in photorealistic 3D of the actual spaces before production started, which fixed the height of the bench, the length of the table and the drop of the pendants against the real window openings.

Interior architects, atelier, installation and styling all sit inside the same company. One point of contact, and a house that was finished as one project instead of assembled room by room.
