What we did

This private office in Waasmunster was carved out of an existing space, and Marcotte Style carried out the conversion as well as the interior.

The shiplap panelled walls, the full height fitted wardrobes, the slatted radiator cabinets and the concealed utility cupboard that hides the washer and dryer are all bespoke joinery from our own atelier. On top of that came the desk with its tan leather writing surface and gilt edge, the high backed leather desk chair, the cream velvet tub chairs, the soft wool rug, the driftwood floor lamp, and the linen curtains and venetian blinds at the window.

Office

The office is lined on three sides with white panelled joinery: full height cupboards behind flush fronts, a slatted radiator cabinet under the window and the same board profile carried across the wall so the storage disappears. An antique desk with a tan leather top and a gold tooled border stands on a pale rug, with velvet tub chairs, a driftwood floor lamp and wooden venetian blinds behind linen curtains. The panelling, the radiator cabinet and the cupboards were drawn up in advance and made to measure in our own atelier, then installed and styled by our own team.

The utility space next door uses the same panelled doors as the office, closing the washer and dryer behind one flat wall so the two rooms share a single language.

The room is small enough that everything has to be exact, so it was drawn up in advance and visualised in photorealistic 3D before production. The desk was sized against the window wall, the wardrobe run was set to the ceiling height, the radiator cabinets were built into the panelling rather than added onto it, and the rug was cut to leave a clean border of oak floor. Nothing had to be adjusted on site.

The material story is quiet and repeated. Warm wood in the desk and the floor, cream painted panelling on every wall, velvet and leather in the seating, and soft wool underfoot. The only accents are the tan leather writing surface and the two artworks, which is exactly what lets a working room stay restful.
