Bathroom, Welle

What we did

The bathroom in this house in Welle was rebuilt from the floor up. Marcotte Style handled the tiling, the bespoke vanity, the mirror wall, the lighting and the fittings, and the same team carried on into the bedroom and the fitted wardrobes on the same floor.

Bedroom

The bedroom is lined with fitted cabinetry that follows the roof slope, combining hanging space, drawers and open shelves in one continuous run. Grey curtains with a contrast border hang in front of the arched window, made to measure in our own atelier and hung by our own team.

Dressing room

Next door the dressing is a full room of panelled wardrobe fronts, with mirrored doors on the corner run and lighting built into the top rail so the mirrors stay usable after dark. Every front was drawn up to the same panel proportion and the runs were set out to close cleanly against the doorway and the arched windows. The mosaic parquet was laid to run through from the bedroom so the two rooms read as one suite.

The floor is laid in dark bluestone, which sets off the matt white of the vanity and the bath surround.

Bathroom

The bathroom keeps to two materials: large marble look porcelain on the walls and a dark stone floor, with a full width mirror carrying two lines of light above twin basins. The washstand runs the whole wall under a single continuous top, and the walk in shower is laid without a step so the floor reads unbroken.

Large format marble look porcelain runs across the walls, interrupted by a single panel of black marble behind the bath. The floor is laid in dark bluestone, which sets off the matt white of the vanity and the bath surround. Light lines are recessed into the mirror wall and continue over the ceiling, so the room reads as one surface rather than a collection of separate finishes.

That coherence is not a coincidence. Every room was drawn up before anything was made, in plans and in photorealistic 3D of the actual space, so tile joints, cabinet dimensions and the position of the taps were fixed before the first order was placed. The wardrobes with their mirrored fronts and the built in units under the sloping ceiling came out of the same set of drawings.
