What we did

This apartment in Uccle was fitted out by Marcotte Style from the shell inwards. The joinery, the wardrobes, the desk, the seating, the lighting, the shutters and the curtains all came from one commission and were installed by one team.

Living room

The living room opens onto the balcony through tall doors backed by folding louvred shutters, made to measure so each panel folds flat against the reveal. In front of them hang floor length curtains in a palm leaf pattern, and a buttoned sofa with two round poufs keeps the seating low so the doors stay the tallest thing in the room. Shutters, curtains and upholstery were measured and made in house and fitted by our own team.

Light oak returns on the wardrobe fronts, the open shelving and the dining table.

Dining room

A pale oak table sits directly at the window with linen upholstered chairs, piped in a darker tone so the seams read against the fabric. The same palm leaf curtain runs on from the living room, which keeps the two ends of the apartment reading as one space.

A fitted oak wall holds hanging rails, adjustable shelves and open end shelving, all behind flush fronts with slim vertical handles so the wall stays quiet. In front of it a dark stained desk with a brass inlay line and a buttoned chair stands on the pale oak floor. The unit was drawn up around the existing door opening and ceiling bulkhead and built to measure in our own atelier.

Because the plans and the photorealistic 3D were made before anything went into production, the built in wardrobes fit their walls exactly and the shutters follow the rhythm of the window frames. Nothing had to be adapted on site.

The photographs show a deliberately narrow material palette. Light oak returns on the wardrobe fronts, the open shelving and the dining table. The shutters and the desk share a deeper brown, and the upholstery, the rugs and the curtains stay within a range of linen and sand tones, so the rooms feel connected from the living room through to the study.

Our own interior architects designed it, our own atelier made the cabinetry and our own team delivered, installed and styled it, with one point of contact from start to finish.
