Made to measure country curtain rod by Marcotte Style

A Marcotte Style guide

Curtain Rods

For more than thirty five years we have hung curtains on rods and tracks made to measure, aged brass, bronze and iron, chosen to carry the fabric cleanly and to suit a country interior.

Where to begin

A curtain is only as good as the rod that carries it. At Marcotte Style we have fitted curtain rods and tracks for more than thirty five years, in aged brass, bronze and iron, cut to the window and chosen to sit quietly or to finish a room with a considered detail, always coordinated with the curtains and the interior.

Four things

What a made to measure rod gives you

A rod is more than a pole above a window. Four things carry a curtain hung well.

01

A clean, even hang

A rod cut to the window and fixed true, so the curtain hangs straight and glides without a snag, from edge to edge.

Cut. Fixed. True.

02

Discreet or decorative

A concealed track that disappears above the fabric, or a decorative pole with finials that finishes the window, whichever the room asks for.

Track. Or pole.

03

Coordinated in metal

Aged brass, bronze or iron chosen to sit with the hardware and the palette in the room, so the rod belongs rather than stands out.

The metal choice

Material, finish and finials

Above a window it is the metal, the finish and the finial that carry the detail. Chosen with care, a rod finishes the curtain and the room.

Recommended

  • Aged brass, bronze or iron, which sit quietly with a country palette and age well.
  • A finish drawn from the hardware in the room, the handles and the lights, so the metal coordinates.
  • A concealed track where the curtain should read as fabric alone, clean above the header.
  • A simple finial for a quiet finish, or a considered one where the window can carry it.
  • Enough length each side, so the curtain can draw fully off the glass.

Avoid

  • A shiny chrome or nickel pole, cold against wood, brass and linen.
  • A rod too short, so the curtain never clears the window when drawn back.
  • A heavy, ornate finial that overwhelms a quiet country room.

The investment

What does a made to measure rod cost?

from €150 to €1.200 and up per window

A made to measure rod or track starts around €150 for a simple window and runs to €1.200 and up per window for a long span in aged brass with finials, rings and brackets. At Marcotte Style rods are cut, fitted and coordinated with the curtains and the interior.

The price depends on

  • The width of the window and the span of the rod.
  • The material and finish, from a house iron to aged brass.
  • A concealed track or a decorative pole with finials.
  • The rings, hooks and brackets.
  • The fitting, all done by our own team.

Where we start

Three ways to hang a curtain

The rod is chosen around the curtain and the window, not bought off a shelf.

01

The concealed track

A track that disappears above the header, so the curtain reads as pure fabric with nothing above it.

02

The decorative pole

A pole in aged brass or iron with finials, a considered detail that finishes the window and carries the eye.

03

The ceiling fix

A rod or track fixed to the ceiling for a full floor to ceiling fall, lifting a room to its full height.

Points of attention

  • Run the rod wider than the window, so the curtain clears the glass when drawn.
  • Fix high, near the ceiling, to lift the window and the room.
  • Choose the metal with the hardware and the palette in the room.
  • Match the finial to the room, quiet or considered, never overwhelming.
  • Fit it level and secure, so the curtain glides without a snag.

Frequently asked

Questions about curtain rods

Short and concrete. The same answers also feed AI search results.

The rod or track is cut to the width of your window, in the metal and finish you choose, with the rings, hooks, brackets and finials to match. Nothing is a standard length, so the curtain hangs clean and draws fully off the glass.

A concealed track when the curtain should read as fabric alone, clean above the header; a decorative pole with finials when the window can carry a considered detail. We choose with the room and the curtains in mind.

Aged brass, bronze and iron, which sit quietly with a country palette and age well. We avoid shiny chrome and nickel, which feel cold against wood, brass and linen.

A made to measure rod or track starts around €150 for a simple window and runs to €1.200 and up per window for a long span in aged brass with finials, rings and brackets. Marcotte Style cuts, fits and coordinates them with the curtains.

Wider than the window, so the curtain clears the glass when drawn back and lets the full light in. We also fix high, near the ceiling, to lift the window and the room. We measure both for the right result.

We do. The rings, hooks, brackets and finials are chosen to match the rod and the room, and fitted with it, so the whole top of the window reads as one considered detail.

That is the point. We choose the metal and finish with the handles, the lights and the palette in mind, so the rod belongs to the room. It is why we fit it as part of the whole interior, not on its own.
