What we did

A country residence in Zedelgem, near Bruges, delivered as a whole. Marcotte Style handled the works and the joinery and then furnished the house completely, from the kitchen and the library to the home cinema under the roof and the room around the indoor pool.

The curved staircase sets the tone for the house, with turned balusters and a shaped timber handrail that ends in a scroll above the black stone floor. The crystal chandelier hangs the full height of the void, and its cut drops and candle sleeves read from the hall and from the landing alike. Marcotte Style's own interior architects drew the stairwell in advance so that every element lined up before anything was made.

Plans, then photorealistic 3D of the actual rooms, so the trestle table would sit correctly under the arched window and the cinema joinery would follow the slope of the roof.

Two deep buttoned sofas face each other across a solid wooden table, one of them finished with a row of studs along the arm. Linen upholstery, piped cushions and quiet taupe curtains keep the palette calm, while glazed cabinets with slim black framing stand against the wall behind. All of the upholstery was made to measure in the Marcotte Style atelier.

Dining room

Steel framed glazed doors open the dining room to the rest of the ground floor. The table sits on a crossed steel base under a long pendant, with buttoned linen chairs drawn up around it. The room was rendered in photorealistic 3D before production, so the proportions of table, light and doors could be judged together.

Kitchen

Painted in frame cabinetry runs the length of the kitchen and stops beside a black range with brass trim and brass rails. The doors carry plain black knobs, the worktops are dark, and a deep sink is set into the run facing the garden windows. Marcotte Style handled the joinery, the finishes and the installation with one point of contact from A to Z.

The salon is arranged around buttoned sofas and a solid oak coffee table, lit by driftwood floor lamps.

Office

The study is lined with dark bookcases above low cupboards, set against a light wooden floor. A heavy wooden desk with an inset writing surface faces the window, where a bronze curtain is caught on a metal holdback and left to fall onto the floor. Joinery and curtains were both drawn and made in house.

Bedroom

The bedroom is built around a white painted bed with a panelled head and foot, flanked by matching bedside cabinets. The same profile and finish carry across all three pieces, so the wall reads as one composition. Delivered, installed and styled by the Marcotte Style team.

Dressing room

The dressing room pairs a painted dressing table with open shelving for shoes, so that everything stays in view. The painted finish is carried across the cabinetry, and each element was drawn to measure for this room and made in the atelier.

Bathroom

A basin in dark stone sits on the vanity under a wooden blind that filters the light without closing the window off. Stone, timber and blind were specified together by the interior architects before anything was ordered.

Under the roof, a run of painted panelled joinery holds the screen and hides the equipment behind a fine mesh panel. A modular seating group in a soft caramel fabric fills the other side of the room, with checked and plain cushions and a matching checked curtain on a pinch pleat heading. Joinery, seating and curtains were all made to measure for the slope of the roof.

The empty attic was furnished as a home cinema, with a screen set into the built-in wall.

Terrace

The terrace runs along the back of the brick villa, level with the lawn and edged with clipped hedging. Woven garden furniture is grouped around a corten steel fire bowl, with a row of chairs in black woven cord at the outdoor table and a woven chair on the balcony deck above. The outdoor scheme was chosen and styled by the same team that finished the interior.

Pool

The indoor pool sits under an open timber roof structure that was deliberately left exposed. A steel framed door connects it to the rest of the house, and the white framed openings along the side bring daylight in from the garden. One point of contact carried this room from the first drawing through to handover.

The house is large and the rooms are very different in character, which is exactly why it was all drawn first. Plans, then photorealistic 3D of the actual rooms, so the trestle table would sit correctly under the arched window and the cinema joinery would follow the slope of the roof. Working that way also keeps the materials speaking to each other. The pale oak of the dining table returns in the salon coffee table, the dark stone of the kitchen floor is picked up by the worktops, and the same grey buttoned upholstery runs from the salon sofas to the wing chairs around the dining table.

A private study is lined with dark bookcases around an oak desk and buttoned leather chairs. The entrance hall turns on a curved staircase under a crystal chandelier, the pool sits under exposed timber trusses with arched windows to the garden, and the attic holds a home cinema with a large modular sofa and its own chandelier. The silk curtains are made to measure and left to puddle on the floor, caught back by metal holdbacks.

All of it designed in house by the Marcotte Style interior architects, made to measure in the company's own atelier, then delivered, installed and styled by the company's own team. One point of contact from the first drawing to the final detail.
