What we did

This mansion in Hamont was taken on as a whole. Marcotte Style handled the building works and the joinery, then furnished every room down to the last fitting.

The result is a house where the crystal chandeliers, the taupe curtains, the oak tops and the painted cabinetry all belong to one family, because they were drawn together long before anything was cut.

Hall

The entrance hall is furnished rather than filled. Two buttoned tub chairs with nailhead studs and limed frames were made to measure in the Marcotte Style atelier and set with a small round table under the sculpted staircase. The upholstery was kept plain so it sits quietly against the carved white balustrade.

Living room

Three connected rooms were furnished as one continuous space. In the salon a long corner sofa faces a buttoned ottoman, with a solid oak console table behind it carrying a pair of lamps and a television cabinet in the same oak along the wall. The garden room takes leather chesterfields and round buttoned poufs around a low painted table under the leaded transoms, and the billiard and games room repeats that buttoned upholstery in the wall benches and the armchairs at the chess table, all drawn up in advance and rendered in photorealistic 3D before anything went into production.

Even the curtains were made to measure, hand pleated and hung with their own holdbacks.

Dining room

The oval extending table was made to measure in solid oak and paired with twelve medallion chairs, their limed frames matched to the table and their round backs and seats upholstered in taupe. Two crystal chandeliers were hung on the axis of the table rather than the room, so the light falls evenly along its full length. Floor length curtains in the same palette frame the garden windows below the leaded transoms.

Office

The office was built as one run of painted joinery, with tall panelled wardrobes on either side of an open display bay lit from behind every shelf. In front of it stands a free standing desk island with a solid oak top and a softly eased edge, its base finished in the same raised panel doors and drawer fronts. The joinery was drawn in house, made to measure in the Marcotte Style atelier and installed by the same team, with dark bronze knobs used across the whole run.

The full height headboard was built as a wall panel, upholstered in velvet and deep buttoned, with the bed base covered in the same fabric so the two read as a single piece. A long buttoned bench on curved wooden legs closes the foot of the bed, and a painted bedside cabinet carries a swing arm reading lamp. It was designed in house by Marcotte Style's own interior architects and then delivered, installed and styled by their own team.

Floor to ceiling wardrobes with panelled doors and a dentil cornice were made to measure for the room and painted off white. They stand around a central island whose solid oak top is finished with a softly rounded edge and set on drawer banks with dark metal pulls. A buttoned tub chair and a large carved mirror leaning against the wall keep the room usable as a dressing room and not only as storage.

Bathroom

Here Marcotte Style added the joinery, the seating and the window treatments to an existing tiled shell. The double washstand is painted and topped with dark stone, while the second bathroom has a painted dressing table with a slim wooden edge lip and an upholstered stool beside the shower. Buttoned tub chairs at the windows and full length curtains with tiebacks were made in their own atelier, with one point of contact running the job from drawing to installation.

Nothing here was chosen room by room on site. Every space was set out in plan and then built as photorealistic 3D of the actual room, so the clients could walk through the salon, the study and the dressing before a single panel went into production. That is why the oak of the long dining table returns in the desk top, in the bathroom vanity and on the dressing island, and why the buttoned upholstery of the bedroom headboard finds an echo in the benches around the billiard table. Dimensions, materials and colours were agreed on paper and on screen, so they matched on the day of installation.

The house moves from a wide salon with a full length corner sofa and a tufted ottoman, past a study with a long oak desk set against painted built in bookcases, into a garden room where stained glass transoms throw colour over buttoned chesterfields. Upstairs the master bedroom carries a full height buttoned headboard, the bathroom pairs a painted double vanity and an oak top under a crystal chandelier, and the dressing is built as panelled wardrobes around a central island. Even the curtains were made to measure, hand pleated and hung with their own holdbacks.
