What a total project is with us

A total project means the drawing, the making and the fitting stay in one hand. Two rooms together is as welcome as a whole house from shell to key.

The design
Your room, your taste and your budget, drawn in photorealistic 3D, with twelve revisions included.
The making
Made to measure in our own workshop and with our European makers, not picked from a catalogue.
The fitting
Our own team fits it, and we plan the trades in the right order and follow the site.
Structural work
Breaking through and rebuilding is done by the contractor, we draw and plan around it.
Anything not on the quotation
The amount is on paper before the works start, so nothing appears afterwards.
01

Bedrooms

The headboard is made to the width of the wall, not to the width of the bed. That keeps the bedside tables on one line and leaves room for light in the recess.

Bedspread, curtain and wall covering come from the same sample card, so the pattern returns without the room becoming busy. Under a sloping roof the cabinets run on into the ridge.

  • Buttoned headboard across the full width of the wall
  • One sample card bedspread, curtain and wall covering
  • Cabinets to the ceiling also under a sloping wall
  • Children's rooms with a desk built into the cabinet run

Walk in wardrobe

A dressing room is laid out around what goes into it: hanging length per type of clothing, drawers for small items, open racks for shoes. Only once that list exists is the cabinet drawn.

Where there is room, an island with a marble top stands in the middle, with drawers on both sides. The light sits in the shelves themselves, so no shadow falls on the bottom row.

  • Laid out by content hanging length, drawers and shoe racks counted first
  • Island marble top, or the same lacquer as the cabinets
  • Light in the shelves dimmable and switchable on movement
  • Dressing table in the same line, with mirror and seat made to measure

Bathrooms

A bathroom is drawn together with the bedroom, not after it. Anyone with three small rooms is often better off with one bathroom with a walk in shower, plus a dressing room.

The walk in shower runs into the floor without a threshold, with one glass panel. The unit is wall hung, with a top in dark natural stone, and the mirror runs the full length into the window recess.

  • Walk in shower no threshold, one fixed glass panel
  • Wall hung unit dark stone top, tap on the top
  • Light line in the ceiling or light in the recess, dimmable
  • En suite next to the bedroom, with the dressing room in between

Shutters and blinds

Where a curtain is too heavy, a blind or a shutter takes over: in a hallway, in a bathroom, or in front of a window that looks onto the street. The light is filtered instead of taken away.

Shutters are made to the day size of the window, in fixed or sliding panels. Blinds in wood or in vertical slats, with the operating side chosen in advance so the cord does not hang in the way.

  • Shutters to the day size, fixed, hinged or sliding
  • Wooden blinds or vertical slats, made per window
  • Operation by cord or electric, side decided in advance
  • Combined with a curtain in the same window opening
Made to measure

Shutters and blinds are measured on site and made per window, so they are not sold from stock. We take the day size, the operating side and the light direction, and quote before anything is ordered.

Lighting

Every room gets a lighting plan: general light, task light and atmosphere light, each on its own circuit and each dimmable. What is on that plan decides where the wiring goes, so it exists before the plastering starts.

In a stairwell over three levels a chandelier of 1.40 m high and 1.12 m wide with thirty candle lamps of 3 W is entirely at home. In a shelf unit a line a few millimetres thick is enough.

  • A lighting plan per room with the circuits dimmable separately
  • Chandeliers up to 1.40 m high and 1.12 m wide, thirty lamps of 3 W
  • Indirect light in shelves, cornice and ceiling recess
  • Light lines drawn together with the joinery

06

Tiebacks and trimmings

A tieback holds the curtain aside and with that decides the shape of the fold during the day. The height is not a matter of taste: it is set on the line of the window division, otherwise the fall kinks at a random point.

In chrome or brass it matches the pole and the door furniture. In cord or fabric it matches the curtain itself and draws less attention.

  • Chrome, brass, cord or fabric chosen with the pole or with the curtain
  • Mounted on the line of the window division, left and right alike
  • Also as a wall hook where there is no room beside the window

Roof terraces

A roof terrace is outdoor furniture on an indoor measurement: the decking, the balustrade and the pergola are drawn onto the existing roof edge, with the drainage as the first condition. Only then comes the furnishing.

  • Decking in wood or composite, on battens above the roof covering
  • Pergola or wind screen with light in the beam and floor spots in the decking
  • Balustrade in the same line as the joinery of the facade
  • Seating and tables from our own collection, in weatherproof fabric
Made to measure

A roof terrace is built on the roof edge that is already there, so the decking, the balustrade and the pergola are drawn per address. We start from the drainage and the existing roof covering.

Kitchens

The kitchen is the part where the measurements are strictest: the worktop runs on to the window, the sink sits on the long side, the extractor sits in the same unit as the hob. In an existing house the units are adjusted by a few centimetres to fit between windows and doors.

The choice of fronts is wide, and it decides how the kitchen ages. Melamine and high gloss react to fingers differently from lacquered MDF or solid wood.

  • Nine front materials from melamine to solid wood
  • All 2050 NCS lacquer colours shown on a sample before you choose
  • Handle, handle rail, handleless or tip on decided per unit
Made to measure

A kitchen is drawn onto your walls, your window height and your services, so it is quoted rather than bought from a shelf. We start from the plan and the front material, and the price is on paper before the work begins.

Dining

A dining area stands or falls by the passing width: how much room a chair needs behind the table when somebody has to walk past. That decides the table size, not the other way round.

We make the tops in solid oak, also for tables for ten. Chairs and bar stools are upholstered to measure and made to height against the finished top, with no surcharge for that height.

  • Tops in solid oak on a cross base or a base in lacquered steel
  • Chairs upholstered to measure buttoned or flat
  • Bar stools to the height of your worktop, with no surcharge
  • Light in the axis of the table drawn on the lighting plan

Living

The living room is drawn around two things: where the light comes in and what people look at. The furniture comes after that. We make sofas to measure, up to five metres long with sides of three metres, in the fabric and the seat height you choose.

The television is built into the cabinetry, the radiator sits behind a unit with vertical slats, and the compartments in the cabinet wall are lit from the inside.

  • Sofas to measure corner sofas of five metres with sides of three metres
  • Television and radiator taken into the cabinetry, not placed beside it
  • Panelling against the wall behind the seating, in the same lacquer as the cabinets
  • Light in the shelves taken into the electrical plan

Fitted cabinets

A fitted cabinet differs from a cabinet out of a range on one point: it follows the room. Under a sloping roof it runs on into the ridge, beside a chimney breast it meets the existing edge, and on a landing the radiator disappears into it.

The drawers pull out completely, right to the back, so the depth is genuinely usable. On one floor we will happily fit two runs of fifteen metres in the same lacquer.

  • Up to 2340 mm high and 750 mm wide per door leaf
  • Nine front materials from melamine to solid wood
  • Fully extending drawers with flat or panelled fronts
  • Radiator casing and desk top worked into the same run

Curtains

A curtain hangs from the ceiling to the floor, even when the window is shorter. That is the simplest way to make a room look taller, and it is the reason the track has to be on the lighting plan already.

The showroom holds around twenty running metres of samples: more than three thousand fabrics, among them the JAB collections. A curtain and a sheer can share one track, with the operation on one side.

  • More than 3000 fabrics among them the JAB collections
  • Pleat of your choice from a flat pleat to a generous fall
  • Curtain and sheer combined in one track
  • Track concealed in a recess in the ceiling, drawn in advance

Curtain poles

The pole is the one part of a curtain you always see, even when the curtain is open. So it is chosen with the door handles and the joinery, not with the fabric. Anyone who would rather not see it has the track concealed in a recess in the ceiling.

  • Brass, chrome, black steel or wood in line with the ironmongery
  • Rings or gliders operated by hand or electrically
  • Tracks concealed in the ceiling, taken into the plan
  • Collections including JAB with the tiebacks chosen alongside

14

Rugs made to size

A rug made to size is cut to the seating, not to the room: all four sofa legs stand on it, or none of them. It is then bound in a band that suits the fabric of the sofa.

A high pile makes a room quieter and softer, a flat weave keeps the passage clear. Under a dining table what counts most is whether a chair slides over it easily.

  • Cut and bound to size in wool or in synthetic yarns
  • High pile or flat chosen for the place and the use
  • Collections including JAB with samples in the showroom
  • Stairs and landings carried through in the same quality

Smart home

Control is only useful when it is simpler than a switch. So lighting, curtains and sun blinds go onto one control, with a handful of scenes per room, and the ordinary switch beside the door keeps working.

The wiring for it sits on the same electrical plan as the rest. Anyone who wants it later has the wiring pulled now: that is the one part that cannot be added afterwards without opening walls.

  • Lighting, curtains and sun blinds on one control
  • Scenes per room with the switch at the door kept
  • Wiring taken into the electrical and lighting plan
  • Control by switch, panel or telephone, as you prefer
Made to measure

Smart home wiring is drawn on your electrical plan and installed with the rest of the works, so it is quoted per house rather than sold as a box.

Three things that are settled before the first drawing

01

A design on your room

A design on your room, your taste and your budget, with photorealistic 3D. Twelve revisions are included, so a cabinet may move three times.
